This article is interesting.

I think this guy has a lot of positive stuff going for him. I may not believe everything that he is about but he is sticking to his values and his ideas. To me
in today's political world people are voted into a position on one set of ideas and then work on a totally different set of ideas. In this case you have Peter DeFazio
who stands up for himself and his ideas. I like that, I wish more of our so called leaders were like that.

The fact that he is a pro gun Democrat makes him even better!!

What do you think of Obama's words to Peter DeFazio “Don’t think we’re not keeping score, brother,”.
First of all I'm sorry I did not know Obama and Peter shared the same mother. Where I come from that is a brother!!
Joking aside to me it shows how vulnerable Obama really is, and how unprepared he is to be a president. I say this
because to me it is an open threat among his pears.

What do you think?

Ultimate Turkey

Let me introduce you to the best Dutch oven!
The Ultimate Dutch Oven
I have had this Ultimate Dutch Oven for about 3 years. It has been really awesome.
It is made of aluminum which makes it a lot better for cleaning than a cast iron dutch oven. The design
of the oven makes it pretty versatile the cone shaped center has holes that allow you to smoke your food while you cook it. The cone also provides the ability to have 2 shelves for cooking different items at the same time. Even though it is shaped a little different than a traditional oven you can still use it like a traditional Dutch oven. I have always wanted to cook a turkey in a Dutch oven but never have in fact I have never cooked a turkey. For Mothers Day I decided to cook for my beautiful wife and my awesome Mother, I guess I should mention the rest of the family showed up to join us. I started with a 10 pound thawed out turkey, then I made a rub out of minced garlic, dried parsley, oregano, salt, and cooking oil. I dried the turkey well inside and out, then generously applied the rub inside and outside of the turkey. Then I put the turkey in the oven with the cone protruding up into the turkey.
The oven lid is large but the turkey was so large that I had to cut one wing of and lay it beside the rest of the bird.

I placed the oven on the hot coals for about an hour, then I started adding mesquite wood chips to the coals. I added fresh coals as needed and after about 2 ½ hours the turkey was finished.

The Finished Turkey

This was the best turkey that I have ever eaten, the meat was so moist that it fell of
the bone. I really enjoyed the turkey and so do my family.

A day at the range with my brothers

The family took a nice trip to see my new niece’s blessing. It is like a 9 hour drive to their house, thank goodness our 18 month old son traveled well. It may have helped that we left at 4 AM. It was a great trip and she is such a good baby. Justin did a great job on the blessing and I was grateful to be a part of it.

My older brother lives in the same town. While my sister and her husband visited with their other family my younger brother and I snuck of with my older brother to the range. Sorry Justin Have to catch you next time.

My older brother has this nice savage 22-250 if you were going to call something a tack driver this would be it. Here is a nice pic to get your mouth watering.

I really like this gun, other than its left handed. It is so accurate this target was shot by my brother at 400 yards. I would say the little critter is dead. I believe there is 10 rounds in that hole!

We just had to take the recently finished ARs with us. These are some fun shots of us fooling around with them.

(IF you click on the photos they will enlarge)
It was a fun day at the range I look forward to the next visit.

Ammunition Accountability Legislation

I got this email the other day and had to know how much truth there is behind it. So I did some research.

This is what the email said;

Ammunition Accountability Legislation
Remember how Obama said that he wasn't going to take your guns? Well, it seems that his allies in the anti-gun world have no problem with taking your ammo!
The bill that is being pushed in 18 states (including Illinois and Indiana) requires all ammunition to be encoded by the manufacture a data base of all ammunition sales. So they will know how much you buy and what calibers.
Nobody can sell any ammunition after June 30, 2009 unless the ammunition is coded.
Any privately held uncoded ammunition must be destroyed by July 1, 2011. (Including hand loaded ammo.) They will also charge a .05 cent tax on every round so every box of ammo you buy will go up at least $1.00or more, a brick of 22's will go up enormously!
If they can deprive you of ammo they do not need to take your gun!
This legislation is currently pending in 18 states: Alabama, Arizona, California, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Washington.
Send to your friends in these states AND fight to dissolve this BILL!!
To find more about the anti-gun group that is sponsoring this legislation and the specific legislation for each state, go to:

"We cannot expect the Americans to jump from capitalism to Communism, but we can assist their elected leaders in giving Americans small doses of socialism until they suddenly awake to find they have Communism."
- Soviet Leader Nikita Khrushchev, 1959

So I followed the website to http://ammunitionaccountability.org/Legislation.htm and it is pretty much true.

Check it out for yourself; we all need to be aware that our way of life is being threatened!!

Elk Hunt 2008

One of My favorite things to do is go Elk hunting. Unfortunately the wolves have taken more Elk around this area than any hunter. This year we hunted in a new area. To get to the are that we had decided to set up our camp was pretty rough. There was about 2 feet of snow on the ground. My truck had a heavy trailer full of out gear and my brother had a four place ATV trailer behind him, it was full. Chevy Power!!! There as only one truck that had gone in before us and they stopped and turned around where we set up camp. We hunted the area at our camp and about 5 miles beyond. Because it was so nasty to get into we were the only ones there for the next 3 days. That was great!! Unfortunately all we found were Deer. Four of us had Deer tags and we filled 2 of them.

Some Pics of our camp.

The last 3 years we have had a 17 X 13 tent, this year my friend bought a second tent a 12 X 14 when we put them together and added 2 wood stoves and a shower house out back we lived like Kings.

I am on the left, then Clint, Scott, and Bill. This was taken about 15 miles away from camp. Where there was allot less snow.

The .17 hmr

I love my 17 hmr. I have the Remington 597 in a bull barreled.
This link will take you to the Remington website.
http://www.remington.com/products/firearms/rimfire_rifles/model_597/model_597_magnum_LS_HB.asp
This is a group I shot at 50 yards

It is allot of fun to shoot full pop cans with the 17 hmr.

This video is not the best but you get the idea.

The ammo for this gun is expensive compared to a 22LR, but it is worth it.

It is also fun to shoot full shaving cream cans, the result is like snow falling.

Does anyone out their like thier 17 hmr?
